Programs & Presenters: Scuba Regulator Basics

Are you looking into buying your first set of regulators, considering upgrading your gear, or just want to learn more about how your regulators work?

In this presentation we will be reviewing how SCUBA regulators work and how to perform basic owner maintenance. We will cover:

• the differences between, and advantages and disadvantages of, piston and diaphragm first stages
• balanced versus unbalanced first stages designs
• common designs of second stages (eg downstream, pneumatically balanced, servo), advantages and disadvantages of each
• special features that manufacturers may add to their regulators
• basic owner maintenance of regulator systems
• common problems that you may encounter with your regulators, and possible solutions.

The presentation will not be manufacturer specific, but we will probably be able to answer your questions about your regulator.
